ART DRIVE JAPAN

In response to the catastrophic earthquake that hit Japan on March 11, 2011, the Made with Japan project is calling upon artists, creatives, and art-lovers from around the world to participate in their charity auction, "Art Drive Japan."

Art Drive Japan is an online auction of work donated by artists, joining hands to contribute to Japan's relief and recovery efforts. By purchasing their creations, you are joining the artists and many others in the cause.

Measured at a magnitude of 9.0 on the Richter scale, this insurmountably strong earthquake was the largest to hit Japan in recorded history and the 5th largest recorded in history since 1900. The number of people who have been confirmed dead or listed as missing in Japan had reached to 20,000 people by Saturday (March 19, 2011), eight days after the earthquake and devastating tsunami hit Japan. (Source:WNCNews) The death tolls continue to rise while others are injured or left very little to survive on. We hope that those who survived will be strong enough to carry on with the reconstruction of their country.

In this time of need, Art Drive Japan wishes to stand by these people - to restore their well-being and their communities.

100% of the proceeds (final sales minus transaction fees) will be donated to the Japan NGO Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund administered by JCIE Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE/USA) who are channeling the money raised to a coalition of NGO/NPOs in Japan. Local organizations to be involved in the long-term recovery efforts will be announced once priorities are assessed.
